Historical data feature gives you up to 365 days of product sales history and up to 180 days of carousel placement history, so you can make smarter decisions about which products to review, when to buy, and whether to touch your existing videos. Access it at app.viralvue.com. Available for all Pro users.
What This Feature Does
1. Product Data (Sales History): View up to 365 days of monthly revenue and unit sales for any product. Use it to spot seasonal trends, consistent growth, or signs of decline before committing your time or own capital to buy a review item.
- Trend Analysis (Seasonality & Gifting Spikes): Identifying massive spikes in revenue and unit sales during specific times of the year.
- Product Lifecycle & Consistency Check: Tracking whether a product maintains consistent year-round demand or if it is on a permanent decline. This helps creators ensure they aren't investing in an item that sold well in the past but is no longer generating consistent sales today.
2. Video Data: Track your content performance across three advanced layers of insights:
- Placement History: Access a graph breaking down exactly where your video appeared over the last 90 to 180 days (top carousel, bottom carousel, both, or neither). This reveals Amazon’s rotation patterns, proving a temporary drop is just normal testing and not a reason to panic-edit a working video.
- Video Analytics: Review a separate, dedicated calendar table spanning over 120 days that maps out your precise, day-by-day placement streaks so you can see exactly when you held a winning spot.
- Influencer Velocity: Track the exact number of new creator videos added to a listing daily. This lets you watch the competition curve grow over time so you know how crowded a niche is getting before you enter it.
Where to Find It
Historical data is accessible in multiple places across the web app. Click the graph icon next to any product's monthly sales figure or ASINs to open the data panel. You'll find it in:
- Web App → Storefront → Products tab
- Web App → Storefront → Videos tab
- Web App → Product Research → Bucket manager
- Web App → Product Findr
- Web App → ASIN Findr
How to Use It — Common Workflows
- Evaluating a product before purchasing to review: Open the sales history and check the full 365-day view. Look for consistent velocity or predictable seasonal spikes. Avoid products with very short history (under 90 days) if you're spending your own money.
- Deciding whether to edit an existing video: Check placement history before making any changes. If you've been rotating in and out of carousel regularly, leave the video alone. Amazon is likely to test it again within days.
- Timing a seasonal product request: Use the 365-day sales chart to identify when a product peaks. Request or purchase it 4–6 weeks before the season starts, not after it's already spiking.
- Bulk-analyzing a brand's ASIN list: Paste URLs into ASIN Findr, then open the sales history on each to quickly identify which products have the healthiest, most consistent track record.
Why This Matters
- Stop guessing on placement. Knowing whether "not placed today" is normal rotation or a real problem means you won't touch something that's already working.
- Invest in review products with confidence. Historical sales data reveals if a item is a consistent earner or just a temporary spike—before you spend your own money.
- Time your strategy. Seasonal data lets you get ahead of demand rather than react to it, which is especially powerful for anyone running a purchase-to-review strategy.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does the placement color key mean?
Blue/green means top or both carousels (best visibility). Orange means bottom carousel. Red means neither carousel — the video is not currently appearing in any placement.
How far back does the data go?
Up to 365 days for sales history and up to 180 days for placement history, depending on product age and when your video was uploaded. Newer products and recently uploaded videos will have shorter histories.
